Best of 2010 Travel: Part 2 of 10 goes to experiencing Cherry Blossoms in Hokkaido!
Timing is everything for viewing Cherry Blossoms or Sakuras in Hokkaido. The 2010 winter in Hokkaido happened to be longer and colder than usual, hence when we were there in the early/ mid part of May last year, our timing exactly coincide with the blooming of the Cherry Blossoms! (usually in late April)
Cherry Blossoms in Hakodate:
The weather was grey and gloomy. It doesn't bring out the pinkness of the Cherry Blossoms.
I never knew cherry blossoms had different varieties till I viewed them first hand! In photos, they all looked pink and pretty.

Photographing Cherry blossoms in macro mode is no easy task for amateur photographer! I had one hand trying to stablise the swaying branches , another hand trying to snap the picture and yet trying to shield the camera from the constant drizzle!
Cherry Blossoms also spotted in Sapporo when we travel there a few days later...
